4-Pin PWM Fan Splitter Extension Cable – 1 to 3 Motherboard Fan Header

Maximize your PC's cooling potential without running out of motherboard fan headers. This compact 4-Pin PWM 1-to-3 Fan Splitter Cable lets you connect three chassis fans to a single 4-Pin motherboard header — all while maintaining PWM temperature-controlled speed regulation for your primary fan.

Key Features

  • 1-to-3 Fan Header Expansion: One 4-Pin motherboard connector splits into three fan outputs, making the most of limited header availability.
  • PWM Temperature Control: One output is a full 4-Pin connector supporting both PWM speed regulation and fan speed monitoring; the other two are 3-Pin outputs supporting PWM temperature control (speed monitoring not active on these two to avoid signal conflict).
  • Broad Compatibility: The 4-Pin headers accept both 4-Pin PWM fans and standard 3-Pin fans. Note: 3-Pin fans connected to this cable cannot use PWM speed regulation, but will operate normally. Many newer motherboards with DC speed regulation support are also compatible.
  • Quality Build: 1007 24AWG wire with PVC insulation, tinned copper conductors (11×0.12TS), and a rated operating temperature of 80°C for reliable, long-term performance.
  • Neat & Compact: At just 27cm in length and only 16g, this cable fits comfortably inside any PC case without cluttering your build.

Important Note on Speed Measurement

To prevent tachometer signal conflicts, only one of the three output connectors retains the full 4-Pin layout (speed measurement + temperature control). The remaining two outputs are 3-Pin (temperature control / speed regulation only, no tachometer signal). This is by design — a single motherboard header can only read one fan's RPM at a time.

Perfect For

  • PC builders adding multiple case fans to a build with limited headers
  • Upgrading cooling on compact ITX or mATX motherboards
  • Anyone running radiator fans, intake/exhaust setups, or multi-fan configurations

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I connect three 4-Pin PWM fans to this splitter cable?

A: Yes — the 4-Pin and 3-Pin output connectors are both physically compatible with 4-Pin PWM fans. However, only the single 4-Pin output connector supports full PWM speed regulation and RPM monitoring. Fans plugged into the two 3-Pin outputs will receive temperature-controlled voltage regulation but will not report RPM back to the motherboard.

Q: Will this 4-Pin PWM fan splitter cable work with 3-Pin fans?

A: Absolutely. All three output connectors are compatible with standard 3-Pin fans. Keep in mind that 3-Pin fans connected here will not support PWM speed regulation, but will function normally. Motherboards that support DC voltage-based speed regulation offer even broader compatibility.

Q: Why do only two of the three outputs have 3 pins instead of 4?

A: This is an intentional design to prevent tachometer signal conflicts. Since a motherboard header can only read one fan's RPM at a time, the speed-measurement (tachometer) pin has been removed from two of the three outputs. The power supply and speed regulation functions are completely unaffected on all three outputs.

Q: Is this cable compatible with my motherboard?

A: This cable is designed to work with any standard ATX motherboard featuring a 4-Pin fan header. It is widely compatible across major motherboard brands. If your motherboard uses DC speed regulation, all three output fans may benefit from automatic speed control.
