ESP8266 WiFi 4-Channel Relay Module with ESP-12F & AC-DC Switching Power Supply

Take your home automation and IoT projects to the next level with this versatile ESP8266 ESP-12F WiFi 4-Channel Relay Development Board. Built around the proven ESP-12F module with 4MB FLASH, it combines wireless connectivity, flexible power input, and four independently controllable relay outputs — all on a single, compact board. Made in Mainland China.

Key Features

  • ESP-12F WiFi Module: Mature, stable design with large-capacity 4MB FLASH for reliable wireless performance.
  • Full I/O Breakout: All I/O ports and UART programming pins are fully exposed for easy secondary development and expansion.
  • Wide-Range AC-DC Power Supply: On-board switching supply supports AC 90–250V, DC 7–30V, and 5V input — powers itself directly from mains or DC sources.
  • 4× 5V Relay Outputs: Each relay can switch loads up to AC 250V / DC 30V — ideal for controlling lights, appliances, and other devices.
  • On-Board Reset Button: Instantly restart the WiFi module without disconnecting power.
  • Arduino & Eclipse Compatible: Supports Arduino IDE and Eclipse development environments; reference programs for Arduino are included.
  • Status Indicators: Power LED, 1× programmable LED, and per-relay status indicators for at-a-glance monitoring.
  • Low Power Consumption: Efficient design suitable for always-on automation deployments.

Interface & Relay Terminal Guide

Programming Port: Connect ESP8266's GND, RX, TX, and 5V to your TTL serial module's GND, TX, RX, and 5V respectively. Set IO0 to GND before uploading firmware; disconnect IO0 from GND after download is complete.

Relay Output Terminals:

  • NC (Normally Closed): Shorted to COM when the relay is inactive; open when engaged.
  • COM (Common): Shared reference terminal.
  • NO (Normally Open): Open when relay is inactive; shorted to COM when engaged.

Setting Up the Arduino IDE

  1. Install Arduino IDE version 1.8.9 or newer.
  2. Go to File > Preferences and add the following URL under Additional Board Manager URLs:
    http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/package_esp8266com_index.json
  3. Navigate to Tools > Board > Board Manager, search for ESP8266, and install version 2.5.2 or latest.
  4. Select ESPINO (ESP-12 Module) as the target board.
  5. Connect IO0 to GND, select the correct COM port, click Upload, and let the IDE compile and flash automatically.
  6. Disconnect IO0–GND, then press the reset button or re-power the board to run your program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What power sources does the ESP8266 4-Channel Relay Module support?

A: The on-board AC-DC switching power supply supports a wide input range — AC 90–250V, DC 7–30V, and direct 5V input — making it compatible with standard mains wiring as well as most bench power supplies and DC adapters.

Q: Can I use this relay module with the Arduino IDE?

A: Yes. The ESP-12F chip is fully compatible with Arduino IDE (version 1.8.9+) and Eclipse. Simply add the ESP8266 board package via the Board Manager and select ESPINO (ESP-12 Module) as your target board. Reference programs for the Arduino environment are provided.

Q: What loads can each relay control?

A: Each of the four 5V relays is rated to switch loads up to AC 250V / DC 30V, making them suitable for controlling household appliances, lighting circuits, motors, and similar devices.

Q: Do I need extra hardware to program the board?

A: Yes, a TTL serial module (such as an FT232) is required to upload firmware. Connect the serial module to the board's UART programming port, set IO0 to GND during upload, then disconnect IO0 and reset the board to run your code.
